Updates for macOS Sierra, iOS 10 and watchOS 3

Apple has announced updates for macOS Sierra, iOS 10 and watchOS 3.

macOS Sierra 10.12.6

The 819-MB macOS Sierra 10.12.6 update enhances the stability, security and compatibility of every Mac. The firm’s support document also mentions the following about this update:

    Provides a resolution to a problem that prevents some SMB connections from the Finder.
    Solves a problem that results in Xsan clients restarting unexpectedly when the user moves a file within a relation point on a Quantum StorNext File System.
    Enhances the Terminal app’s stability.

To install this update follow these steps:

  • Start the App Store application.
  • Navigate to the upper part of the app window and click on Updates.
  • The Updates list should now be automatically refreshed by the App Store. If that doesn’t happen, click Store and then Reload Page, or press Command-R.
  • Press Install.

iOS 10.3.3

Using a wireless connection, users can install the latest iOS 10.3.3 update directly on their iPad or iPhone. This is a large update with a size of 84.6MB which provides security enhancements and fixes minor bugs.

Follow the steps below to install the update:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap General and then select Software Updates.
  • Tap Download and choose Install to proceed with the installation.
  • The update can also be installed by connecting the iOS device to a Mac. Then run iTunes.

watchOS 3.2.3

This relatively small update contains bug fixes and other improvements for your Watch. In order to install it, you will have to make sure your iOS device is connected via Wi-Fi. It is also necessary to connect the Watch to a charger and the battery needs to be at least 50% charged.

Then proceed as follows:

  • Tap on the iPhone’s Watch app.
  • Then tap on General and select Software Update.
  • Finally, tap on Download and choose Install to start the installation. The watch will have to be restarted for changes to be applied.
