iOS 13.2 now available, offers Deep Fusion and more

This week, Apple released iPadOS 13.2 and iOS 13.2 for its iPad and iPhone range. There are the typical security improvements and bug fixes, but the company also threw in a couple of new features.

To start off with, there are a lot of new emojis, and the firm also introduced support for Unicode 12.0. This means that users are able to create a myriad of emojis showing couples holding hands.

There are also more animals, new food alternatives, and a yawning face. Furthermore, the operating system now offers many new accessibility-related emojis, including people in wheelchairs, prosthetic arms and legs, and a service dog,

On an iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro, you will now also have Deep Fusion, a photo-processing service that uses machine learning to improve the appearance of your pictures. You can now also set the frame rate and resolution of your videos directly in the Camera app.

After the latest iOS update, you can delete your dictation and Siri history and unsubscribe from sharing Siri recordings with Apple.

Last but not least, iOS 13.2 brings support for the latest AirPods Pro, and if you have a HomeKit-enabled camera, it enables HomeKit Secure Video. Remember to first back up your device before upgrading to iOS 13.2.

Check that your iCloud backup is current by going to Settings and then choosing Account Information, Device Name. You can also plug your iPhone or iPad into a laptop or desktop computer and manually back up iTunes.

Remember to encrypt your iTunes backup for improved protection in case someone hacks your computer. Encrypted backups also include health data as well as saved passwords, making reconnecting after restoring much easier.

After you’ve done all of this, head to Settings, scroll to General, and select Software Update. This should then show ‘Update Requested’, and the update should start downloading automatically once it is available.

I've been a passionate evangelist for Apple and the Macintosh throughout my working life, my first love was a Quadra 605 working with a small creative agency in the south of Norfolk UK in the mid 1990's, I later progressed to other roles in other Macintosh dominated industries, first as a Senior graphic designer at a small printing company and then a production manager at Guardian Media Group. As the publishing and printing sector wained I moved into Internet Marketing and in 2006 co-founded blurtit.com which grew to become one the top 200 visited sites in the US (according to Quantcast), at its peak receiving over 15 million visits per month. For the last ten years I have worked as an Affiliate and Consultant to many different business and start ups, my key skill set being online marketing, on page monetisation, landing page optimisation and traffic generation, if you would like to hire me or discuss your current project please reach out to me here.
