Apple fixes annoying bugs with the release of iOS 13.2.2

Apple’s iOS 13 brought a lot of new productivity upgrades, but some serious flaws threatened to undermine all of that.

The company’s latest operating system for iPads and iPhones, for example, caused apps running in the background to shut down much earlier than usual.

Even merely switching to another app might be sufficient to cause Safari to reload the whole window with all open tabs.

This might not sound like much, but one of the consequences is that you might, for example, lose your place in the YouTube video you are watching.

On iPads, the problem is even bigger: not being able to switch to another task on an iPad Pro while busy with something that needed processing power was a major issue that made the device virtually unusable for any serious work.

Fortunately, the issue is also addressed in the beta version of iOS 13.3 that was released earlier in the week, but it’s good to see that Apple has now fast-tracked the solution to all users, because not everyone is part of the beta programme.

iOS 13.2.2 also fixes a problem that caused iPhones to lose mobile signal after a call temporarily.

Apart from that, the latest version of iOS also addresses an issue that caused mobile data to become unavailable temporarily.

Users, for example, reported that they sometimes lost access to data when exiting the subway, despite their devices reporting a very strong signal.

That is not the end of the list either: the latest patch will also address an issue that caused charging to be interrupted on YubiKey Lightning-powered accessories.

Finally, it will hopefully bring an end to a glitch that resulted in some S/SMIME messages from one Exchange account to another one becoming undecipherable.

The iOS 13.2.2 and iPadOS 13.2.2 updates can be downloaded from your device’s Settings menu.
