Spontaneously combusting Apple Mac Book and lacklustre iPhone sales

Concept of electronics break with device in fire flames

In more bad publicity for Apple, a Mac Book has reportedly burst into flames at a home in Astley Bridge this weekend. The incident took place at about 8.30 in the evening. Nobody was injured in the process, and no additional damage was caused at the Ullswater Street property.

Interestingly enough, the device was not connected to a power source when it combusted. It is believed that it was bought from an Apple Store quite recently.

After the accident, a spokesperson for Bolton North fire service reminded individuals how important it was to have functional smoke alarms in their homes.

He went on to say: “There was no damage done to the house, but there were no working smoke alarms in the property, so we fitted them. If it had happened when the occupiers were in bed it would have been a totally different story.”

The inhabitants were very fortunate that they were in, he concluded.

In other Apple news, Nikkei has again reported that the Cupertino-based company will reduce iPhone X production by ‘half’ during the January to March quarter. This will leave Samsung with huge overproduction of the OLED panels it builds for the company – and for all practical purposes nobody to purchase them.

According to the Nikkei report, which was published over the weekend, Apple’s decision has left Samsung desperately trying to find new buyers for its OLED panels. The report goes on to say that Samsung responded to strong expected demand for the iPhone X by ramping up production of OLED panels – and that Apple’s production cuts have now left it with huge excess capacity.

To add to Samsung’s woes, most other smartphone manufacturers are apparently sticking with LCD panels because OLED screens are simply too expensive.
