Safari Not Opening PDFs? – Here’s How To Fix It

Have you tried opening a PDF file in Safari only to encounter a blank page like this:

Well here is a simple fix to get PDFs showing again.

First quit Safari then head on up to the Finder menu and select GO then chose the Go To Folder option (You can also access this by holding SHIFT+⌘+G).

Type in the following directory /Library/Internet Plug-Ins and hit enter. A Finder window will open that should look something like the this:

Make a backup of the contents of this folder then delete the AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin.

Relaunch Safari and try viewing a PDF, hopefully it should display just fine. If this doesn’t work for you please let me know in the comments!
