New 16-inch MacBook Pro could arrive before Friday

According to several news outlets, the long-awaited 16-inch MacBook Pro is about to be released.

Some reports claim that Apple might launch the device as early as Wednesday, with sales commencing before the end of the week.

The new MacBook Pro will reportedly cost more or less the same as the 15-inch version, which is priced from $2,399.

According to Bloomberg, this is because it will be a full replacement for the 15-inch model.

Some observers apparently expected it to fit into a higher price slot than current options to provide a premium alternative, but at this stage that does not seem to be the case.

Apart from the bigger screen, the 16-inch MacBook Pro will provide Apple with an opportunity to show off a redesigned keyboard that will hopefully be more reliable than the by now notorious butterfly keyboards used on MacBooks for the last three years.

In spite of a number of tweaks and revisions, this keyboard has undoubtedly harmed Apple’s reputation because of its infamous tendency to repeat keystrokes, keys that get stuck and similar problems.

Bloomberg also pointed out that the top-of-the-range Mac Pro is set to be released next month.

After launching the iPhone 11 range in September 2019, followed by upgraded AirPods in October, Apple clearly wants to end the year by focusing on the Mac.

Apple earlier (inadvertently?) revealed plans for the 16-inch laptop in the beta version of MacOS 10.15.1 Catalina.

If the latest speculations and rumours turn out to be correct, the 16-inch MacBook Pro will feature a 3072 x 1920 screen, as well as an 8-core i9 trim with Intel’s ninth-generation of Coffee Lake processors.

Apple earlier also launched the AirPods Pro without any previous announcements, so it would not be much of a surprise if it does the same with the 16-inch MacBook Pro.
