Apple has reportedly pushed back plans to launch a 14-inch MacBook Pro to next year, according to an insider with an excellent recent track record of predicting new devices.
The @L0vetodream account on Twitter correctly predicted that Apple would launch a new cut-price iPhone SE and a vastly improved iPad Pro with a Magic Keyboard months before Apple officially revealed its plans.
The anonymous account has now claimed that a MacBook with a larger footprint is still coming, but fans will have to wait until 2021 to get their hands on it.
Apple refreshed the MacBook Pro line earlier this month, but it did not feature a 14-inch display or any design changes, as rumoured prior to the launch.
The new models were modest improvements on last year’s offerings with a storage bump and new keyboard making its way into the entry-level Pro and faster 10th-gen Intel chips added to the more expensive model.
However, next year’s changes could be more radical with a 14-inch mini-LED display chief among them.
Apple did update the 15-inch MacBook Pro late last year, adding a larger 16-inch display, thinner bezels and better speakers.
Some were expecting the same treatment for the 13-inch MacBook Pro in 2020, but major changes did not materialise.
While the wait for a larger model continues, L0vetodream has also predicted the launch of a 12-inch MacBook this year.
The account claims that it will be the first Mac to feature the newly designed ARM chip.
Apple is planning to bring its own in-house-developed CPUs to its MacBook line after becoming frustrated with the speed of Intel’s innovation.
However, ARM-based Macs are not expected until 2021 at the earliest, so L0vetodream’s prediction is an outlier at the moment.
