The iPhone 12 could ship without a charger and EarPods when it goes on sale later this year, according to new information divulged by financial analysts on Thursday.
British bank Barclays revealed its latest predictions for the upcoming smartphone based on discussions it has had with Apple suppliers during the last few weeks.
The Barclays analysts suggest that Apple may choose not to include a charger in the box with an iPhone for the first time.
However, the analysts said that there should be a USB-C to Lightning cable, so users will be able to charge their devices if they already have a wall socket adapter.
The omission does offer environmental benefits as many users are likely to have a power adapter due to the fact that billions of smartphones are sold every year.
New customers may not be too enamoured though if they have to spend an additional $19 on the basic 5W adapter that Apple sells separately.
Apple also offers a fast-charging 18W adapter for $29.
The Barclays analysts also said that Apple will omit its customary pair of pack-in EarPods for the iPhone 12.
Insider Ming-Chi Kuo revealed in May that the wired buds could be omitted from the iPhone 12 box, but this is the first time that someone has claimed that the charger may not be included either.
In addition to its expectations for accessories, Barclays revealed that mass production of iPhone models is likely to get underway around four to six weeks later than usual.
Analysts believe that Apple will unveil the iPhone 12 at the same time as previous years but that customers may have to wait a month or two to order some models.
They also expect the two more expensive models to feature the LiDAR Scanner that made its way into the recent iPad Pro devices.
