Is this the biggest Apple leak in years?

While he was an Apple analyst, Gene Munster wasn’t famous for the accuracy of forecasting the firm’s financial performance. And he was never the first one to reveal any groundbreaking details about new Apple products. In fact, his ‘information’ was mostly old news.

If there is one thing that he became known for, however, it was his relentless certainty that the company was secretly working on an ‘iTV’. At every possible occasion, he would assure reporters that Apple was set to announce its own brand of flat-screen televisions. Yet it never happened.

But yesterday the first actual photos of an OLED TV made by Apple might have been leaked. If this is true, it could well be the biggest leak from Apple in many years.

The pictures shared on Chinese microblogging website Weibo yesterday morning purport to show a real Apple TV set for the first time in history. Reportedly, Apple has been playing with the idea of building a line of Ultra HD televisions for a long time — and if the pictures shared by Weibo user ‘Lee hammer students’ are anything to go by, this may soon become a reality.

The blurred pictures claim to show an OLED TV carrying the Apple brand. The device with its stylish design is allegedly being tested in a Chinese lab. The design with its silver metal certainly has the appearance of something that Apple could have produced.

Since the source is untested, and because the photos cannot be verified at this stage, one has to remain sceptical, however.

Surrounding details remain unclear. According to the source, the device has a 60-inch screen with two front-facing cameras. Be assured that reporters will now start digging to find out as much as they can, so watch these pages for more news in this regard.
