TF International Securities’ Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has released his latest research note aimed at investors. In the note, he gives more information about what people should expect from Apple’s hardware line-up in autumn 2018.
Complementing his earlier reports about new iPhones, Kuo has now shared fresh details and more in-depth information about Mac updates for, among others, the Mac mini, iPad Pro refreshes, and Apple Watch screen size developments.
Below is a summary of what he expects Apple to be shipping during the autumn:
• Refreshed iPad Pro models featuring Face ID, an updated 12.9-inch model, no Home button, and what appears to be a new 11-inch version.
• Three new iPhones. The list here includes a new 6.5-inch OLED model, a new 6.1-inch LCD model and a refreshed 5.8-inch OLED version.
• A brand-new lower-priced notebook, which Kuo says might not be known as the MacBook Air.
• A number of Mac updates, including the Mac mini, as well as chip upgrades for the iMac, MacBook Pro, and MacBook. These promise notable display-performance improvements.
• Mass production for the updated AirPods and AirPower.
• Updated Apple Watches featuring bigger displays than earlier reported. Kuo now mentions 1.78-inch and 1.57-inch displays with improved heart rate detection.
The 11-inch version that Kuo refers to seems like a replacement for the present 10.5-inch iPad Pro. This would place the range at 12.9-inch, 11-inch, 9.7-inch and 7.9-inch.
Kuo also specifically mentions 12.9-inch (not 13-inch) and 11-inch, so he doesn’t appear to be rounding up the sizes. This could mean that the 12.9-inch iPad will come with a smaller body, instead of giving the current body a bigger screen.
As predictions go, Kuo points out that possible risks might include lower-than-anticipated product demand and product delays – but the autumn range definitely sounds like a huge across-the-board update for Apple buyers.
