Apple offering free next day delivery for iPhone X

Apple may be struggling to cope with the current demand for AirPods, but the flagship iPhone X is now available for next day delivery in both the United States and United Kingdom, allowing consumers to snap up one of the must have tech items in the run up to Christmas.

Apple said that demand for the iPhone X was “off the charts” when it opened up pre-orders in late October. But it now appears to have balanced supply to ensure everyone who wants either the 64GB or 256GB models in Silver or Space Gray will be able to pick one up as a last minute gift option before Christmas Day next Monday.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who previously stated the X would be thin on the ground in most major markets until the beginning of next year, said the improved estimates for shipping are due to production going better than expected rather than a drop off in demand.

Consumers in the U.S. can now get free next day delivery for every model of the X except the 64GB SIM free silver version, which may take up to four days to arrive. Similar shipping estimates have been quoted for the UK online store and other countries. It is a notable improvement compared to late October, when estimates slipped back five to six weeks, before that shortened considerably in early December.

The iPhone X launched six weeks after the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus on November 3 with a host of new features including a bezel-less 5.8 inch OLED screen and Face ID facial recognition. Sales are believed to be particularly healthy, with Apple’s revenue guidance coming in at around $84bn, but it is hard to say for sure whether it has been a huge success until the next quarterly earnings report.
