According to IHS Markit analyst Jeff Lin, there is a high likelihood that Apple will release a brand-new 16-inch MacBook Pro in about three months. The totally revamped laptop will reportedly come with an LCD panel with a resolution of 3072 x 1920 made by LG Display.
This will be an improvement over the present top-of-the-range model, which only offers a 15.4-inch screen with a resolution of 2880 x 1800. The new model is also likely to boast a new CPU.
Apple, of course, updated the MacBook Pro range in May when it once again tweaked the quite unpopular butterfly keyboard and added more powerful processors. Lin expects that the 13-inch MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air will get updated processors in September. Nothing, however, seems to be in the pipeline for the 12-inch version, which was last updated over two years ago.
In other Apple news, the company is reportedly planning a massive expansion of its Seattle facilities that will create jobs for about 2,000 new workers over the next five years. Apple representatives and Mayor Jenny Durkan announced this news yesterday at the under-construction office complex where these employees will be based. It will eventually comprise two 12-storey towers with a total of 650,000 square feet of space and will be 100% powered by renewable energy.
Apple’s VP of Global Real Estate and Facilities Christina Rasby said that the first 200 employees will move in before the end of 2019. She added that they decided on Seattle because of the “tremendous work that local leaders have done here over the past several decades to make Seattle a world-class place to live and to work.”
Rasby added that the Seattle complex would eventually become a core engineering hub, with numerous newly created positions across areas such as software technologies and service, and hardware.
Apple, she concluded, is already busy with the recruitment of these new workers.
