Apple developers can now download latest watchOS update

Last week Apple seeded the initial beta version of the new watchOS 4.3 update to the thousands of developers out there who have been eagerly awaiting its release. This comes only two days after the company released watchOS 4.2.2, a less important update which focused on increasing performance and sorting out a couple of bugs.

Once you have installed the correct configuration profile from the Apple Developer Centre, you will be able to download the updated watchOS version via the dedicated Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Simply go to General and select Software update.

A note of caution: to be able to install this update your Apple Watch will require at least 50% remaining battery power, it has to be placed on the charger and it must be within the iPhone’s range.

What we do know at this early stage is that, when in portrait mode, watchOS 4.3 provides support for Nightstand mode. Furthermore, the Siri watch face now offers Activity information – and the beta version includes a redesigned charging animation when the Apple Watch is placed on the charger.

The 4.3 update also boasts the return of an aspect that will undoubtedly be welcomed by fans: the very popular feature which enabled owners to play music on their iPhones by using the Apple Watch’s Music app. In earlier watchOS versions, this app was only useful if users wanted to control the music playing on the watch itself.

Developers still exploring the new features of watchOS 4.3 beta version, so it is unclear what other new (and possibly exciting) improvements or features might be included.
