Apple announces revamped and much improved privacy site

Hot on the heels of news that Apple’s Keychain may be unable to provide sufficient protection to prevent hackers from gaining access to confidential user info, the company announced a redesigned and upgraded privacy website which was created to provide consumers with easier access to its privacy policies.

The new privacy website clarifies how the company’s commitment to protecting users’ privacy is beneficial for owners of Apple devices. It provides tangible examples of features such as the iPhone’s passcode and Apple Pay, and it clearly sets out how the Cupertino-based company makes use of Differential Privacy, encryption and stringent guidelines for apps, to help guard against data theft.

On the redesigned site there is, for example, a section which covers every Apple security feature and information regarding all Apple apps. The list here includes Apple Pay, iMessage, Analytics, Health, iCloud, Safari, Education, CarPlay, Siri, Photos, News, Apple Music, Maps and others.

The site goes into remarkable detail and very clearly explains the privacy and security measures programmed into each application.

There is also a new section on how users can secure their devices with Touch ID and/or a passcode, and how to protect your Apple ID against thieves with two-factor authentication, a strong password, and being aware of phishing attempts and other scams. This section also sets out exactly how these features work and provides reasons for why users of Apple devices should implement them wherever possible.

For some time, Apple has provided a clear privacy policy and has always outlined its privacy practices in detail on its website. However, the new website makes it much simpler for users of its products to digest and comprehend all of this important information in a short time, with an easily navigable layout and understandable language.
