Yesterday Apple enhanced its online store for reconditioned devices by adding a number of 2017 13-inch MacBook Pro models fitted with the popular Touch Bar.
Prospective MacBook owners should regard themselves as lucky – since Apple released the 2017 models after the Worldwide Developers Conference, which took place in June, this is the first time that some of them have found their way to the store for refurbished devices.
At the time of writing this article, Apple had nearly 15 different models on offer, with each MacBook Pro selling for between 15 per cent and 16 per cent less than the price of a new one.
As an example, a top-of-the-range 1TB/16GB/3.5GHz model with a new price tag of around $2,899 can be yours for $2,459 in the company’s refurbished store.
Apple offers both Space Grey and Silver models in a variety of configurations, with prices starting as low as $1,529 for the Touch Bar (entry-level) computer.
At the moment, there aren’t any of the 15-inch MacBook models that were released in June, but they might come soon.
Before they are offered for sale, all of the company’s reconditioned products have to pass through a stringent refurbishment process. This includes cleaning, repairs, repackaging and inspection.
Every reconditioned Mac comes with a 12-month warranty that the buyer can extend by signing up for Apple Care+.
Even though these devices have all been meticulously refurbished, there is nothing quite like the feel and smell of a brand-new Mac when you open the box for the first time. Therefore, there will always be people who prefer to pay a few hundred pounds more for a new model.
