AirPano City Book app is free for now

Apple’s official app store is giving away free redeem codes for AirPano’s popular City Book app, which allows iOS users to view stunning panoramas and 3D virtual tours of 10 of the top international cities.

All these high-resolution urban landscapes include a selection of connected spherical picture panoramas which can be zoomed and rotated 360 degrees, either by physically moving the iPad or iPhone in the desired direction or by using the touch screen.

It is possible to switch to a different part of the city map by simply tapping a circled dot on the screen. The views can be from the vantage point of the ground, from the air, and often also from inside popular landmarks such as St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City.

To move from one locale to the next, users can also scroll horizontally using the panel showing all the different views at the bottom of the screen. There is also a brief guide included for every city. The various locations are best viewed using a Retina iPad.

The AirPano team comprises a group of Russian devotees who spend many hours taking high-resolution aerial pictures from aeroplanes, helicopters, hot air balloons, blimps and drones.

AirPano’s panoramic photos have won a substantial number of global awards and are often published in prominent international periodicals. AirPano’s Travel Book can be bought via in-app purchases, while the Wonder Book is currently showing as ‘coming soon’.

The AirPaco City Book app, which normally costs $2.99, can be yours for free right now. Simply open the Apple Store app, scroll down until you find the Featured App marked as ‘Exclusively for you’ and tap on it. You should then see a link to the App Store with the redeem code already entered, allowing you to download the AirPano City Book for free.
