Jimmy Wales the founder of Wikipedia announced today that his user generated search engine Wikia search will be closed down.

While the idea of a social search engine was an interesting concept, the results on Wikia search when I have used it have been terrible. Whales said today that the project is still one or two years away from being usable by the public and that the search engine was receiving an average of 10.000 uniques a month.
