How to choose which application a file opens with in Mac OS X
Sometimes when you double click a file to open it your Mac chooses the wrong application. For instance you might open a text file expecting it to open in Pages or Word but instead your Mac chooses TextEdit. Never fear there is an easy way to get around this problem:
Right click (control click) the file and choose “Open With” from the pop up menu.

If you would like to just open this file in a different application you can choose it from the list displayed. Alternatively if you want to always open this type of file with a specific application click “Other”
This will open a window that prompts you to choose an application, find the one you want then tick the “Always Open With” checkbix in the bottom left of the window, then click “Open”

Thats it from now on your Mac will always open this file type in your choosen app.
